It is not far-fetched to say that it is currently the hostels
network with the world's largest coverage, addressed to youths
of all ages, and in which one can spend a good night in a friendly
environment and at reasonable prices.
Its philosophy is basically to develop friendship, integration
between the peoples, a healthy friendship and to develop an ecological
awareness among its members with no distinctions as to political
or religious beliefs or age.
There are currently more than 70 countries which are members of
the International Youth Hostel Federation - Hostelling International
with a national network of over 5000 hostels or hostelling centres,
which annually generate an occupation of approximately thirty
million nights/beds used by more than four million members.
