Santa Marta is the oldest city of Colombia. The Quinta of San Pedro Alejandrino, where Simon Bolivar, The Liberator died in 1830, is located 5 km away. The villa, built in the 17th century, is surrounded by trees hundreds of years old and beautiful gardens, and contains artifacts of the era. The Contemporary Arts Musuem is also based here.

The main tourist center is El Rodadero, 10 minutes from Santa Marta, with white sandy beaches and a tranquil sea perform for enjoying water sports. Here you can visit the Aquarium and the Musuem of the Sea, where marine fauna in their natural habitat can be observed.

Don’t leave without going to Taganga, a picturesque fisherman’s town, and the Tayrona Natural Park, with beautiful scenery and stretches of solitary beaches ideal for nature lovers.

There you will find cabins built in the Tayrona indian style, available for lodging and which mark the start of a spectacular hike from sea level to 5,775 meters in altitude, to the striking Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
